THEY DO WORK FOR THEMSELVES
Ticked1 thanks for answering my questions. I'm thrilled to hear that Andrew/Leslie don't have others helping with carpentry work. It's all their own handywork!!! How nice of Andrew, Leslie and Peter to show up so early on 2nd day to work off camera and get additional work completed. True professionals and conscientious as well. Sorry about a couple projects not being able to be completed. At least you'll have those to work towards. I guess the designers usually have more anticipated projects than can sometimes be completed. (as in your case) Your not the only one where all the projects don't get completed though, so don't feel too bad. This proves how they really are rushed to get everything completed within the time constraints of the show. It was nice of the reporter to give you the tape of the show. Along with a newspaper story on your home and the show.
Thanks again for the behind-the-scenes info. Take care. God Bless

aresnz,
To answer your questions, we didn't get a copy of the show from TLC, they said we would have to tape it off TV. However, the Salt Lake Tribune newspaper used our house along with the Ogden house for a story and the reporter for the paper got an advance copy of the tape. When he finished with it he gave it to us. There is a large crew that helps behind the scenes. But, to be honest the only people that I saw doing carpentry were Andrew and Leslie. They did have a lot of help when it came to relaying the patio stones and painting the shutters and pots and things. I also have to say...to make sure that things were going to work out on time--Peter, Leslie and Andrew showed up about 2 or 3 hours early on day 2 so they could work "off camera". They are all great people and want to make sure that every project goes well!

NOT TICKED
ticked1 thanks so much for the info. I really loved your ep on WYWO and the outcome. Happy you won that great barbecue!!!! Your husbands reaction was priceless. Do you get your own copy of the show? Also, I'm always interested in hearing the behind-the-scenes info on what's actually going on. Am so glad the show IS NOT scripted. (as I've read TS is) Personally, I'm a fan of Teresa's and huge fan of Andrew's. (Leslie and Peter are also decent) Your kind statements about Teresa and Andrew (especially that HE TRULY DOES KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING) are most appreciated. Peter does seem to have a sense of humor, as do the majority of the regulars on the show. (main crew being Teresa, Andrew and Leslie) Nice to hear that the crew makes sure the house is left in good condition. As for the editing, I agree with you. At times some of the best parts are probably edited out, i.e., time constraints being the logical reason. One question, is there another carpenter to help out as well as other crew members who pitch in to help paint, etc???? (behind-the-scenes that is)
Thanks again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not Ticked :)
I picked this nickname a while back when someone on this board TICKED ME OFF! (All is well now though) We are the homeowners from the show where the big prize at the end was a BBQ-and we weren't rained out. As far as the show goes, it was a GREAT experience. The crew was terrific!! And I have to say that whoever edited the show got rid of some really great moments. I think b/c some projects didn't get finished and they didn't want to use any tape that showed the projects "in process". Leslie is the sweetest, funniest person I have met! Teresa was HYSTERICAL when she wasn't sick. She was REALLY sick. She spent a great deal of time laying on my bed--ill. Andrew is actually a very compentent carpenter (at least from what I saw) Peter BonSey was so funny and he had the best sense of humor. I wish they could have showed more of that in the actual show. And the producer and crew were TERRIFIC. They took special care to leave my house the way they found it and to make sure that I was comfortable with everything going on.I have to say, that even when you know it is happening it is still a major shock to have a crew of 25+ people descend on your house. s far as the scripting goes...we didn't have scripts. I think that the only thing that is scripted is Teresa's schpeel. The cameras rolled and they shot whatever footage they needed. The only thing that was really choreographed was aking sure that members of the crew were out of the shot.
It was an awesome experience and I would do it again ANYTIME!

Do I really need to say this??? I just want to add my 2 cents...I think Peter makes the show! I seriously think it would not be as great if anyone else were to be there. I enjoy his designs and the thought he puts into each and every project he takes on. I just wish I had the "guts" to do what they do sometimes on the show.

I agree - Peter had a lot more design elements planned for our mediterranean patio that didn't hit the air. I would have loved it if all of them were incorporated into the final product, but he left the plan with us so that we could finish it off at a later date.

Without recapping what everyone else said, my comments are the following: Peter Bonsey, love the accent, and he seems to really move things along and enjoy it. His end result isn't pow, but I'll keep looking, the budget is minimal..

It was a REALLY fun experience. I was bummed that I didn't get to meet Andrew and Leslie (they raced off with their trailer and equipment before I got home)…but Peter and Teresa were great! (Stick with it Teresa – you're doing a great job!! Andrew and Leslie – if you read this, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! I wish I could have met you.)

Last Saturday's episode was the first one I've ever actually enjoyed. The designer Peter was GREAT, very upbeat and cheerful (which is what I enjoy about Trading spaces). He was not of the "oh sweet Jesus what happened to my dream" school like Christy (sp?) or Chase (again, sp?). I enjoyed watching his work and loved his positive attitude - he even got Andrew to shut up and stop whining! Loved it.

Peter,
Yes I am still interested in a design, but would like you to be a part of the While you were out team that I hope to have working on my house doing this project.
I enjoy the shows you work on and your design sense is second to know one I have ever seen. I have been in the Construction business all of my life, and worked with several designers, and none of them have impressed me like you. I submitted an application to get on the show and have not heard a word about it. I really want to get this done but really know nothing about what it is I will hane to do to make it happen. I am not asking you to influense the process the staff goes through in making there choices, but I am really interested in getting this done.
Thank you for getting back to me and remebering me as well.
Sincerely Paul Oldenburg

Ok guys for those of us who watch both WYWO and Trading Spaces i am curious in your ideal world who would you want to redo your entire house? Go room by room and pick a designer to redo each room.
My choices... My bedroom- Doug Wilson (T.S.) Basement-Stephen Saint-Onge Kitchen-Frank (T.S) Living room-Vern yip (T.S.) Outdoor yard area- Peter Bon Sey (diggin the water features) Kids rooms-Hilde (T.S.) It is the only room i would trust her in Bathroom- Not sure actually. i guess i can toss a coin and get any of the ones who are left. Since it is a whole house to redo I can have Andrew & Ty
There was too many andrew subjects so I am going to make one on that sexy stud known as Peter BonSey. he makes me feel all woogely.

Hello everyone, I had breakfast with Peter this morning and he asked me to let you all know that he has not posted on our boards. He does read the posts, though, and is interested in doing a chat or webcast with us in the near future. He is quite concerned that he is being falsely represented on our boards. While it is possible that someone could sneak in here without telling us first, mod_ivy and I will do our best to let you know when someone from the show plans to post on the boards.
Thanks, Dina ----------------------------------------------

I'd like to apologise for the abuse posts you had to endure here. Please do not judge these boards by one unhappy, sorry, punk who seems to relish abusing everyone. Most of us are educated, interested viewers who enjoy the show and the talents the designers provide.
Thank you for posting here and I do hope you choose to ignore dudley-boy (as we have learned to do) and that you grace these boards again.
You do lovely work. Dr. Bonnie Raymond

I really do enjoy this show. Here is what I think:
Theresa - She's a good hostess although she did overdo it with her hospital visit. The English accented gentleman designer - I do like his work. Chase Dakota - She's the equivalent of Doug on TS. She better just lose that attitude of hers. Don't care for everything she does but portions of her work are good. The handyman - He's adorable, love his accent and he does a great job even though it makes me nervous when he seems to be running out of time. The assistant (female) - She's GREAT! This is another show I'd love to be on but I'd want to pick my own team.

Dear Peter,
It's Mondray from Miami-While You Were Out. I just wanted to let you know that my grandfather arrived home last Tuesday and he absolutely loved his new backyard. It took him a while to get used to the different colors but he thinks it's great. He loved the bell, but he said his favorite part of the entire experience was the happiness it brought to my grandmother and I. All the neighbors have been over and they think it's awesome as well. I just wanted to thank you for making those two days extra special by taking the time to make me feel comfortable in the midst of controlled chaos. It honestly wouldn't have been the same with a different designer. Thanks for making the trip and for all your unique ideas. It was a blast!!!
Your #1 Fan, Mondray Hall
P.S.- Please tell Andrew that, despite my shyness and at times awkwardness, I really thought he was a hot dude! Just Kidding!

My daughter brought me a buffalo pod from the Summer Solstice in Santa Fe, NM years ago. I have never been able to find more these great pods, and the lady who sold them has never returned to the Summer Solstice. I watched the "While You Were Out" of April 1, 2003 - Miami - NW 150 St. and you put these pods on the pots of your incredible creations.
Would you be so kind and let me know where I could order these buffalo pods and give me the real name if I am calling them by the wrong name.
I would greatly appreciate your assistance. Many thanks, Katherine Grace

Yours truly Miss Rebecca Lang
ps. Peter, this is Kate. It is a thrill that my daughter has made role models out of designers and landscapers, and left Brittney Spears alone.
I'm very pleased. Cheers Mate.

Ugh ... It's just so hard coming to this BB with the current influx of very young newies inundating the board with posts that don't interest me, drive me crazy, or I've read a hundred times before - if you know what I mean? Okay, having gotten that off my chest.
ANDREW: Big and doofy. Incredibly handsome w/ endearing boyish qualities. Should maybe take some Ritalin for his attention deficit. Otherwise, is truely talented and all around nice guy. LESLIE: True rennaissance woman. Extremely talented in many areas. Adorable personality, beautiful inside and out. Gets along very well with HO's too. I don't blame JB for having such a huge crush on her. JOHN: Designs require a great deal of "engineering". Takes chances, experiments and uses unconventional ways to achieve his vision. But his designs always turn out amazing and bold. Artistic, handsome, laid back and modest. CHAYSE: Nice use of color and fabrics. Have never really seen a bad design. Has a "prima dona" air PETER: Lively, energetic spirit. His designs are usually a little overboard in "theme" but basically has good ideas and results. Experienced garderner. I love how the Leslie and Teresa pick on him all the time.

I really enjoy the variety of outside vs. inside make overs. So many people focus on the inside and neglect the outside. Grandma was such a sweetheart and did a wonderful job raising her daughter and grand-daughter! Peter did a wonderful job designing such a nice retreat for her morning coffee. Loved the waterfountain (to drown out I-95 Highway noise!) great idea! The metal palm trees were gorgeous! And I loved the palm leaves they painted on the concrete table and benches!
The whole crew seemed to have so much fun during the ENTIRE show (no nit picking or talking about this or that behind each others back) that was refreshing. Just goes to show they can make a show where everyone gets along. How could you not enjoy Peter! The colors looked great - they were subtle and not "over the top" for grandma's taste! This beach/oasis deserves a huge WAVE of applause!

Yowza! I thought this was a great eppy. Leslie pulling Andrew in a wagon, Kung-fu Teresa, Peter Bonsey in a safari helmet giving orders, Leslie being "camoflaged" and Andrew playing along, Teresa and the home owner joking about "Old World Charm" after she lost the first quiz - and throughout the rest of the show, Andrew & Peter joking around the way they always do, "Elephant-gate", Andrew burning up the welding machine, (wish they'd caught that on camera!) Leslie welding, Teresa's remarks about patenting the "vomit" candle, Leslie & Andrew eating the home owners' barbequed chicken... I was laughing through the entire show.

I absolutely love her to death. And so does LESLIE. I am sorry to say, but I was a little disappointed to see the blonde (adrienne??) and not leslie. If it hadn't have been for Leslie, I might have turned it off. As far as designs go, my favorite designers are Peter Bonci and Chayse, although Mayita and I share similar racial backgrounds (VIVA PUERTO RICO). I love the show and I am glad that Theresa replaced that god awful Anna Bocci I could not stand her. Well Happy day guys.
